Timeline
I started working on this Remus cosplay in August of 2024, and finished it in October of 2024, however this was not the first time I had ever cosplayed Remus. My first Remus cosplay dates back to the very start of my TikTok account back in 2020. I have done multiple versions of this character over the course of the years. However most were simple, 1-3 hour projects. This version I wanted to go all out for and spend real time paying tribute to the original design while giving my own twist on the character.

I tried a lot of things for the first time with this cosplay.
The first thing I did was look at the original costume to see the layout and details in it, then I made sketches of design ideas I had based on placements and silhouettes in the official costume.
This was obviously just a rough sketch but it was all I needed to get a solid mental image of what I wanted to do.
Sketch
Sleeves
For the sleeves I measured out where I wanted them to start and stop on the shirt and measured out a strip of tool twice that length. I took each strip, doubled it up and pinned the open ends to the shoulder of the shirt, alternating by color.

I sewed all of the strips down with my sewing machine, taking care not to damage the tool as I sewed.

Then, I took the looped ends and hand stitched each strip down to the sleeve, being sure to leave slack to create a full, and poofy effect in the shoulder.

Sequins

This project was my first time ever using sequins and it was a daunting task at first so I broke it up into to parts:
1) outlining the details
2) filling it in
I took a paint pen and drew out a flame/tendril pattern on the shirt to use as a guideline, then slowly went along and traced it in sequins sewing them one by one until I had the full outline.

For each sequin on the outline I did two stitches, one following the flow of the outline, and one going in towards the center of the shape. For the inner sequins filling the shapes I did one stitch from the top of the shape, and let the pressure of the layering hold the sequins in place.
The Sash
As I looked at the original design I noticed Remus sash was made of chiffon, a very thin, delicate, and expensive fabric. I decided to stray from the original design with the sash, but keep the chiffon element.

What I did was take chiffon, 2x the width of the sash, and layer pieces of tool, the width of the sash, in the center of the chiffon. I sewed the tool in place with clear thread and then sewed the edges of the chiffon together to encapsulate the tool in it. I finished it off by sewing the ends together and ended up with an opaque chiffon sash.
Finishing Touch
One small detail I knew I wanted to add was the eyeball on the shoulder of the costume. It's not a very prominent element, but I felt it helped show the characters personality.

I took a white spherical bead/button from Joanne Fabrics and painted it with gel nail polish.
